Do you need a special tool to remove the steering wheel?
I removed the horn assembly and was faced with a nut, removed it but the steering wheel would not budge? _________________ Now that I am cured of my schizophrenia, where am I when I need me?

If it's like other older vehicles it will just be stuck on the tapered shaft.
You could try screwing the nut back on just until it's level with the top of the shaft - no more. Then get your biggest hammer and while pulling upwards evenly on both sides of the steering wheel hit the top of the nut/shaft with one sharp 'bang'!
If your lucky the wheel will loosen.
If your not so lucky you will have to give it another sharp 'bang' with the hammer.
(The idea of screwing the nut onto the shaft until level is so you don't damage the threads on the shaft/column.)

knee's work well BTW, i usually have a good old fight with it, pulling from all directions around the rim of the wheel then tap the shaft and it pretty much falls off after that |
