We live in a remote corner of western Spain, close to the Portuguese border, and are the only Delica owners here. We run a bar/restaurant, so don't have much time to get away and join in any club activities in the UK. If anyone fancies a trip to fantastic scenery, empty roads and lots of opportunity for putting the 4x4 to good use, please let us know. There are campsites and good value B&B's here.

Hi there and thanks for the invite. Is the fuel cheap over there as well?

Diesel here (in Spain) is 85 cents a litre, in Portugal (10km) away it's 98 cents a litre! Accommodation (double or twin ensuite) is 55 euros per night including breakfast (or 7 nights for the price of 6), self catering (2 doubles, 1 single) is 70-80 euros per night or for camping, see www.asseiceiracamping.com. The campsite is just in Portugal, but run by an English guy (reviews at http://www.zoover.co.uk/portugal/alentejo/marvao/asseiceira-in-san-antonio-das-areias/camping/information#tabs). Cost of living is very cheap - bottle of beer 1 euro, glass of wine 60 cents, 3 course meal with wine 5 euros. Lots of fabulous walking or cycling trails, great for bird watchers, lots of small interesting towns to visit.

Its no mini meet that's for sure!
This would be a full blown expedition! and it would be great! Very Happy

According to Google maps it would be for me a 1,317 mile trip just to get there, catching the ferry at Portsmouth across to Cherbourg (cost of around £250) then down through France past the Pyrenees into Spain down through central Spain through Salamanca and on to Las Lanchuelas.

It would take just over 23 hours. So would have to stop halfway down.

Anybody up for it? Wink

Other alternatives for crossing the Channel are Plymouth -Santander or Portsmouth - Bilbao (a bit more expensive than Cherbourg but less fuel and accommodation costs) - it's then 7-8 hours to here.

looked into the ferry crossing to Spain and the cost was £700+ shock

They make you have a cabin plus it takes 24 hours for the ferry to get there.

So it works out more expensive and takes longer. Crying or Very sad
